June in Bend begins the time
when the community can gather downtown for access to a vibrant rainbow of
local, fresh fruits and vegetables!
Shopping at local markets is
a great way to support local commerce and family farmers who use sustainable
farming techniques.
The Bend Farmers Market is
open Wednesdays 3-7 pm in the heart of Bend, behind the Tower Theater in the
Brooks Street Alley Way.
In order for products to be a sold at
the market, items must be 100% grown, produced or collected in Oregon.
Parking
can be difficult to find near Downtown during the Farmers Market. An
alternative place to park is the free Centennial Parking Garage just 3 blocks away on Lava between
Minnesota and Oregon.
Interestingly, there is a free Bend Bicycle Cab shuttle that runs between the market and the
parking garage.
NorthWest Crossing hosts a Saturday open
air market which begins June 29th and runs
through September 21st. This lively market includes vendors and artisans of all
sorts, along with a variety of fresh locally grown foods.
Watch a snippet of a day at the NWX market here.
Why
not try something new from one of Bends local farmers markets to peak you
culinary imagination?
If
you are unable to make it to the market in person, call Life Tree Personal Service and we will arrange to have your desired
fresh, locally grown produce delivered right to your kitchen.
